Tom Allen 6th
degree Professor Tom Allen
began martial arts training in Kenpo Karate at
Middletown Kenpo Karate School with Professor Lee Lowery
in 1980, and in 1985 Professor Allen earned his Black
Belt. In addition Professor Allen was promoted to the
rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt, under the IKKA and Senior
Grand Master Ed Parker, in 1990. Professor Allen
currently holds the rank of 6th Degree Black Belt in
Kenpo Karate, and earned his Black Belt (Lakan) in
Modern Arnis in 2008.
Bill Boisvert 5th degree Sifu
Bill earned his black belt in 1986 from Professor Lee
Lowery; in addition Sifu Bill earned a probationary
black belt in the Parker Kenpo system. Sifu Bill
teaches the day classes at Middletown Kenpo Karate
School on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s, and also helps Sifu
Tom Cushing teach Wednesday nights Arnis classes. Sifu
Bill holds a black belt in Arnis, Lakan Tatlo. Sifu
Bill also studies Tai Chi.
Joe Vecchitto 5th
degree Sifu Joe earned his
Black belt under Professor Lee Lowery in 1990.
Lynnette Hurlburt 5th degree
Sibok Lynnette earned her Black Belt in 1996 under
Professor Lee Lowery, and is currently the Owner /
Manager / Head Instructor of Middletown Kenpo Karate
School. In addition to Kenpo, Sibok Lynnette trains
in other martial art styles, but enjoys the high energy
and excitement that is found in the flashy side of the
martial arts; with an emphasis on fitness, skills, and
competition. Sibok Lynnette is also very involved with
community youth programs in Middletown and her hometown
of Manchester.
Jay Preisner 5th degree Sifu Jay
earned his Black Belt in 1997 under Professor Lee
Lowery. Sifu Jay’s favorite part of Kenpo training is
teaching a student how to break down the techniques and
katas into smaller pieces for a better understanding;
additionally Sifu Jay enjoys Sparring class and the
great feeling that it leaves at the end. In addition to
Kenpo, Sifu Jay holds a Lakan Dalawa (2nd degree) Black
Belt in Modern Arnis.
Judi Satagaj 4th
degree Sifu Judi earned her
Black Belt in 1994, under Sifu Tony Siverio. Sifu Judi
has taught many Women & Children Self Defense Seminars
at Middletown Kenpo Karate School. Currently you can
find Sifu Judi at Middletown Kenpo Karate School
teaching Dragon classes. She is also assisting Sifu Lena
with the Cobra Demo Team.
Brian Hurlburt 4th degree
Sifu Brian earned his Black Belt in 1996 under Lee
Lowery; and brings a real world experience to his
application of Kenpo self defense techniques. Sifu
Brian also brings many years of experience in tournament
sparring and kata, and uses this experience to help grow
our students skills in a fun and meaningful manner.
Tom Cushing 3rd
degree Sifu Tom earned his
Black Belt in 2002 under Professor Lee Lowery, and also
holds a 3rd degree Black Belt Modern Arnis. He also
trains in Bagua, Xing-yi and Tai Chi (the 3 internal
forms) and enjoys sharing the similarities of all these
arts with students in an effort to give them a more
comprehensive understanding of their Kenpo forms and
techniques.
Bob Kenefick 3rd degree Sifu Bob
earned his Black Belt under Professor Lee Lowery in
2004; and as well as having a Black Belt in Kenpo
Karate, he is also studying Modern Arnis. Sifu Bob
feels the most important lessons taught to our students,
especially the younger students, are not the karate
moves but values: courtesy, respect, honor, acting in a
safe manner; but most of all to be a good citizen.

Jen Curran 2nd degree
Sifu Jen earned a black belt in 2006 under Professor Tom
Allen. In addition to Kenpo, Sifu Jen has also trained
in Arnis, Tai Chi, and also trained with the
International Kenpo Karate while in France. Sifu Jen
works for Wesleyan University’s Graduate Liberal Studies
Program and lives in Middletown with her husband and
children.
Scott Thompson 1st degree
Sifu Scott earned his Black Belt in 2008 under Professor
Tom Allen. Sifu Scott has a passion for kata, and enjoys
competing in traditional forms. He also likes to create
his own forms. Recently Sifu Scott has started to train
and condition for wood and cement brakes.
Mike Tanasi 1st degree
Sifu Mike earned his black belt in 2008 under Professor
Tom Allen. Sifu Mike’s hobbies (other than martial
arts) are video-games and reading. Sifu Mike is
currently enrolled at Central Connecticut State
University.
